Where to stay in Victoria Falls

Every property here has been visited by our team. We book them at the same rate you would pay direct — the difference is that we know which room to ask for.

There is no accommodation inside the Victoria Falls rainforest itself. The closest stays sit on the park boundary in Victoria Falls town, within walking distance of the entrance gate, while the adjacent Zambezi National Park has a small number of riverside lodges and self-catering chalets inside its boundary. For a genuine bush stay, Hwange National Park accommodation is two hours away by road.

Make where you stay part of the trip

In Victoria Falls, location decides your days. A town hotel means you walk to the falls and to dinner. A riverfront lodge means quiet and hippo at night, but a vehicle for everything. A bush camp means you are actually on safari.

  • Town — walk to the falls, restaurants and operators. Best for short stays.
  • Riverfront — quieter, more scenic, transfers needed for everything.
  • Zambezi National Park — inside the boundary, self-catering, game on the doorstep.
  • Hwange or Chobe — a real safari camp, two hours out. Worth two nights minimum.

Accommodation questions

Can you stay inside Victoria Falls National Park?

Not in the rainforest itself. The closest stays sit on the park boundary in Victoria Falls town, a short walk from the entrance gate. The adjacent Zambezi National Park does have riverside lodges and self-catering chalets inside its boundary, which is the nearest you get to sleeping in a park at the falls.

Where is the best area to stay in Victoria Falls?

Victoria Falls town, for most people — you can walk to the falls entrance, the restaurants and the activity operators. The Zambezi riverfront upstream is quieter and more scenic but needs a vehicle for everything. Livingstone on the Zambian side is cheaper but adds a border crossing to most activities.

How far in advance should I book?

Six to nine months for travel between July and October, or over Christmas and Easter. Victoria Falls has limited bed stock and the well-run properties fill first. Outside peak season, two to three months is usually comfortable.

Why does Booking.com show rooms when you say a lodge is full?

Online platforms hold allocation that is not always live, and a lodge can be sold out on its own system while a stale cache still shows availability. When we say full, we have asked the lodge directly. We would rather tell you that than take a booking that gets cancelled a week later.

Is there camping in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe?

Yes. Several properties in town offer serviced camping and pre-pitched tents with shared ablutions alongside budget rooms — which makes them practical for mixed groups where some people want a bed and others a tent.

Does it cost more to book through you?

No. We book at the same rates you would pay the property directly. What you get in addition is someone who has stayed there, knows which rooms to avoid, and can move you if something goes wrong at 22:00 on a Saturday.

What does “waitlisted” mean on a lodge booking?

It means the lodge is full but holding your request in case of a cancellation. Waitlists do clear, particularly 30 to 45 days out when provisional bookings are released. We will always offer you a confirmed alternative at the same time rather than leave you waiting on one.
