The short flight is the one almost everyone books. The extended flight is worth the difference if wildlife or the gorge system matters as much to you as the falls themselves.

Early slots can meet mist in the gorge; afternoons are hotter and bumpier. Between 09:00 and 11:00 is the sweet spot.
Peak flow is spectacular but the spray plume can hide the Main Falls entirely. The gorges still read clearly.
Less spray, sharper photographs, and the basalt structure of the falls is fully visible. Best months for the flight.
If weather scrubs a flight it is rescheduled free — but only if you still have days left. Never book it for your departure morning.

Yes. The aircraft used for scenic flights have large windows and every passenger gets a window seat. Ask for a front seat if photography is your priority. Microlight flights do not permit cameras on board for safety reasons — they sell their own on-wing footage instead.
Operators weigh every passenger at check-in and seat the aircraft to balance it. Passengers above roughly 100 kg may be asked to buy an additional seat. Tell us at booking so the quote is accurate rather than a surprise at the helipad.
Mid-morning. Early flights can meet mist over the gorge and late afternoon air is bumpier, though the light is warmer. In high water from February to May, spray can obscure the Main Falls at any hour — which is another reason to book early in your stay.
